Love is in the Hair

Happy Valentine's Day to all you lovely readers!

Today marks my last day in Canada before I take off to Thailand tomorrow for our 3 week yoga retreat - so unbelievably excited. Also, it makes spending Valentine's Day solo this year a little more bearable. Between my rushing around tonight on last minute trip errands and packing, we were able to score a reservation at my absolute FAVOURITE resto in Toronto - Lee by Susur Lee. The modern asian-fusion lounge will be featuring a special Valentine's menu, with dishes created by internationally acclaimed iron chef Susur himself, including my personal fave: the Singaporean Slaw. Dare I say, best Valentine's plan ever?

LET'S TALK HAIR!

I've been getting a lot of comments and questions on my hair in recent posts. First off, thank you I seriously appreciate it! I asked for a very subtle ombre back in the summer at a Toronto salon called Hair on the Avenue. They did a fabulous job with the colour with a nice, easy fade. I'm past due for an update as most of the blonde ends have been chopped off, but the sweet thing about ombre colour is that the natural look doesn't require immediate attention. For styling, I use Sultra: The Bombshell Curling Wand in size 1 inch. It took awhile to get used to, but now I love the waves it creates. In these photos, I actually ran a flat iron over the finished waves to give it even a looser finish.

I hope everyone has the most wonderful Valentine's Day, whether you plan to spend the day solo or with someone special, I hope you are surrounded by love and self-love in its purest form.

Talk to you next either from Thailand or after my retreat! Love,

Don't Fur-get Me

Happy Wednesday!

I cannot believe it's already February 12th. This means in 3 days, I finally take off to beautiful Koh Phangan, Thailand, for 17 days of yoga, sun, and ocean! (Again, sorry to rub it in fellow cold-weather friends). My sorority sister and I are travelling with Free and Easy Traveller, and we'll be staying on beach-front bungalows. However, we are without wifi for the retreat (I know, me? Without wifi? Wish me luck!) so I doubt I will be able to update this blog until I'm back in March. But trust me, I should have some great snaps to show you then!

In the meantime, we took a few last wintery shots in a nearby big open hydro field. I love this floppy black felt hat for the winter months, paired with this long faux fur Alice + Olivia vest.

Ladies Who Lunch: High Tea at Fairmont Château Laurier Ottawa

2/10/2014
I drove up to Ottawa over the weekend and had a wonderful time spent with some of my best friends from university. In all the time I'd lived in Ottawa for school, I never had the opportunity to set foot into the Fairmont Château Laurier, a beautiful historic hotel in the downtown core near Parliament. Not only did I get to go twice this past weekend, I also joined my beautiful sorority sisters for an afternoon of Sunday High Tea.

Love my Alpha Pi Phi sisters! Classy ladies.

We ALL went with the Canadian Tea menu. So good!

My sisters looked so beautiful I had to document their outfits!

Winter Whites

2/04/2014
It's February, friends!

Also known as the second most depressing month in my books, at least weather-wise. I have slight season affective disorder, so when I don't see the sun for days on end, my mood just hangs out in the dumps. Except not THIS February, seeing as I leave for sunny Koh Phangan, Thailand for a yoga retreat on the 15th (cue squeal). SUPER thankful I'm jetting off the day after Valentine's Day or I'm not sure I'd survive - this is my first being all by my lonesome in years... Kidding, I'm not that dramatic. Sorry to rub it in, Canadian and cold-weather friends, but I'll be treating my single lady self to a big ole' pina colada on the beach.

For those of you who know me, probably know I collect white dresses like it's my business. Anytime I can wear white, I do, even to brighten my mood up this February.

Wearing:

Nastygal "Tribal Fringe" Necklace (Sold out but similar style from Urban Outfitters HERE)

Dress from "Honey Boutique"

White Trench from "Holt Renfrew"

Have an amazing first week of February - remember, only 136 more days until summer... ugh.

Love,
